Hi, and thanks for coming to my website.
My name is Nicole Munoz, and over the past 25 years, I have been helping adolescents, adults and families obtain clarity and mental well-being in their lives. I am a licensed psychotherapist and have had a practice in the Towson area since 2003. Prior to that, I practiced in New York City, primarily helping teens and families with mental health and addiction issues. Working with people that are interested in addressing recovery issues or ACOA and codependency traits continue to be of interest to me.
So helping people is what I do. And how I do it is why people come to me. One thing I feel really matters in my work is I approach everyone as a completely unique individual, with a unique set of circumstances that led them to this point in their lives. In other words, there’s no “one size fits all” approach to my style of psychotherapy, because there is no “one path” that everyone has taken. We’ve all walked a different road, with different stops and co-pilots, so everyone who needs a helping hand needs one that’s tailored to them. It works for me, and it works for my clients.
I’ve become an advocate of both EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and neurofeedback (LENS and NeurOptimal). In fact, neurofeedback has really become something I admire and encourage because it’s simple, pharmaceutical-free, non-invasive, painless, and can yield results in as little as one session. But again, we’ll work together and choose an approach that works best for you.
Let me give you a few credentials…I obtained my undergraduate degree in Family Studies from the University of Maryland in College Park in 1992, and went on to receive a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from Columbia University in 1994. I have received further training in Addictions Counseling at the Rutgers University School of Alcoholism Studies, and completed EMDR therapy training at the EMDR Institute, Inc. in 2011. I also trained extensively to provide LENS neurofeedback in 2016 with Ochs Labs. and became a certified NeurOptimal provider in 2021. I am licensed to practice clinical social work in the state of Maryland and am a member of the National Association of Social Workers and EMDRIA (EMDR International Association).
But in the end, my most cherished credentials are the stories from my clients regarding how I helped them. Obviously, I don’t divulge these or hang them on the wall, but they mean more to me than anything.
Can I help you in any way? Please reach out to me and we’ll talk!
